It brings light to the heart
Scenery × Encounters × Place to Belong = Kochi Prefecture

The deep blue sea of the Pacific Ocean, the white sandy beaches. A mystical, crystal-clear blue stream.
The deep, moss-covered green of the benevolent valley. It makes you want to take a deep breath and let your mind and body relax.
I went to Kochi Prefecture to encounter such beautiful scenery.

Experience the epic drama!

The perfect place to start your Kochi trip is "Kochi Travel Plaza." Here you'll find a building that recreates the set of Ryoma's birthplace used in the NHK historical drama "Ryoma Den," as well as "Tosaterasu," a Kochi tourism information center. After feeling the strength of the samurai of the late Edo period, gather plenty of information about Kochi Prefecture and head out to explore.

Kochi Castle

This is the only castle in Japan where all of the main keep's buildings still exist. Climb to the top of the keep and enjoy a panoramic view of the city.

Let's go on a cave exploration!

Formed over 175 million years, Ryugado Cave is one of Japan's three largest limestone caves. The cave is adorned with music, videos, and beautiful lighting, creating a mystical atmosphere. In addition to the easy-to-follow tourist courses, there is also an "adventure course" where you will need adventure gear to venture off the beaten path, so be sure to give it a try.

Speaking of scenic spots in Kochi

Katsurahama Beach, famously known from the Yosakoi folk song "Katsurahama is a great place to see the moon," is a coastline that stretches in an arc between Ryuto Cape and Ryuo Cape. It is a popular tourist spot loved by both tourists and locals alike for its magnificent harmony of pine forests, sandy beaches, and the blue sea. The statue of Sakamoto Ryoma, built overlooking the Pacific Ocean, is also a must-see.

Katsurahama Aquarium

This aquarium is located right near Katsurahama Beach. You can interact with marine life through activities such as feeding and petting.

Soothed by the scent of wood

The "Library Above the Clouds" in Yusuhara Town was designed by architect Kengo Kuma, the designer of the new National Stadium. The space, which makes extensive use of wood from Yusuhara Town, offers a comfortable feeling as if you were spending time in a forest. Why not take a break from your travels and find your favorite book to relax in?

The building evokes a sense of light and shadow, much like sunlight filtering through trees.
I was amazed by the unique architectural style.

Miraculous Clear Stream

The Niyodo River, known as "Niyodo Blue" for its exceptional clarity and unique shade of blue, is dotted with numerous scenic spots, such as the mystical waterfall pool of "Niko-buchi," reached by traversing steep mountain paths, and the "Shinkahashi," a bridge without railings. You're sure to be moved by the sights you see, which you'll never forget.
